Resolved Icons on desktop and taskbar suddenly blank

After a recent Microsoft update many of the icons on my desktop and taskbar are suddenly blank. I've tried many possible fixes from the net, but nothing has worked. I even tried unpinning programs from the taskbar and repinning from the EXE and they still come up blank. EVEN when I look at the executable itself the icon shows blank, YET when I click on 'Change icon' on the EXE's Properties the icon shows FINE in the icon list to choose from?? HOW can that be? If the icon is in the EXE why isn't windows suddenly showing it?

Has anyone ever found a fix for this, I've seen countless posts from people with the same problem and no fix works?

 

Well how about this for a fix that I just found on the net that WORKED:

I installed a program called 'Iconpackager', then uninstalled it and ALL the icon are now back. MAkes no sense but they're now back. Go figure.

BTW, I can't find where to mark this as resolved, please advise.
