Resolved 8 beeps at startup dell laptop

hi at startup i keep getting 8 beeps on my laptop inspiron n7110 and a blank screen. when i use a external monitor nothing untill i close the laptop at startup but i either get bios setup screen or the startup screen with the logo and f2 or f12 options showing and thats it? does my lcd need replacing or something to do with a video adapter?.

Do note that error really indicates a problem with the monitor (LCD) displaying the image. That may suggest the display panel (as they are called on notebooks), or the signal going to the panel. In other words, it could be the adapter, or simply the cable connecting the panel to the adapter.

The fact the external monitor works suggests the adapter is okay but I would still have the cable inspected to ensure it is securely fastened, and not broken, pinched or crimped before spending money on a new panel.
