I just started using 7.0 last week and find the browser to be very good but the email I can't quite figure out. For some reason when I send an email to myself as a cc or bcc the html doesn't show up. I have even sent myself a test email using the tool bar to insert larger text, colored text, image, smilies, etc. and it doesn't come through on my end. To test futher I sent a test to my hotmail account and everything looks just like I sent it. Is there a setting that I'm missing some where or is this a bug in 7.0? Thanks, LTH

    Hi LTH,

I have tried several times to recreate your problem, but can't. Both my CC and BCC copies are received with all the HTML intact. You obviously have HTML enabled, and that should be sufficient.

Let me see what I can find out for you, or if other users are experiencing this problem.

    Thanks Since

Ramona thanks for the reply. Since the first post I have upgraded to 7.01. After upgrading the first 2 or 3 emails worked fine then it was back to the same thing, no html. Do you have any other suggestions? Also I'd like to hear if anyone else has had any problems with this. Thanks, LTH

    Hi LTH,

Is the HTML setting retained each time you start up Netscape? If the browser isn't retaining the settings, then you may need to create a new Profile.

    Before creating a new Profile:
    With Netscape closed
Back up your prefs.js and prefs.bak files
Rename the prefs.js file to prefs.old.
Then rename the prefs.bak file to prefs.js.

It's a shot in the dark, but occasionally this works. If not, then create a new Profile.

Post back and let us know if either solution worked.

    Another Test

Out of curiosity I sent an email using Outlook and I can receive the html in Netsacpe ok. But if I send it in Netscape and open it in Outlook same problem, no html in message. It seems that I must have something set up wrong or something. It's just odd that it worked fine for a few messages. I have 4 email accounts set up in Netscape and they all 4 do the same thing. NO HTML RECEIVED OR SENT. Any other suggestions? I would really like to stay away from Outlook if at all possible. LTH

    Hi LTH,

Have you tried any of the solutions that I suggested? If so, and even a new Profile didn't work, check these settings in all Mail Accounts:

    Edit|Preferences|Mail & Newsgroups|Privacy & Security|Images
Disable: "Do Not Load Remote Images in Mail and Newsgroups Messages"

    Edit|Mail & Newsgroups Accounts Settings
    Enable: "Compose Messages in HTML"

Let us know if this helps.

    Merry Christmas,

    Ramona :D

    Problem Fixed

Well I got this problem fixed. I did a total uninstall of 7.01 and reloaded it and everythings seems to be fine now except mad: now when I try to export my addressbook I get an error message saying: "Failed to export addressbook, file access denied." I can export the bookmarks fine but not the addressbook. I'm really beginning to hate XP! Any suggestions on this new problem? Thanks, LTH

    Hi LTH,

Your Address Book problem certainly fell through the cracks, during the Holiday.

When trying to export the Address Book, are you exporting it as an LDIF file? Is this when you get the error, and from what location are you exporting? Let me know.

What you can do is move the Address Book manually. As soon as I have the above info from you, we can go forward.

You never did answer me, as to whether or not your created a new Profile? Uninstalling and reinstalling Netscape is usually ineffective if you're having Mail/Address Book/Bookmark problems. These components are part of your Profile. That's why creating a new Profile is very effective in solving the problems.
