Hi There!, I have a very strange problem. -After applying the latest windows updates, none of which seemed to be for keyboard devices, I now have a problem when logging on.
Even with the most careful entry of what I know to be the correct password, windows is returning an "incorrect password" error when I enter the password with my new wireless keyboard. -Now...
    1. The keyboard was working fine before the update.
    2. Asterix`s appear in the password box as if its registering letters.
    3. I can enter the password OK with a wired USB keyboard (or even another wireless one).
    4. When I get into windows with the wired keyboard then remove it, I can open Notepad etc and enter characters just fine with the affected keyboard. What I type is correctly mirrored on the screen- its ONLY logging in to windows that doesn`t work , and even then, - the keyboard is entering SOMETHING because the asterix characters appear.

And Finally - I can plug the same keyboard into my windows 8 machine and it works fine, - even the log in password.

Has anybody got any ideas as to what is going on?
(This is not a major problem - but its really annoying that I can`t use the keyboard fully on the intended machine).

If you have any numbers in your password and you use the numerical keypad to the right of the keyboard to type them in, make sure the NumLock is on.

Hi!, thanks for answering, - the keyboard is an Advent K312 and there is no number pad on it, -I can actually type the password into Notepad (when I have logged in with a wired keyboard) and it appears correctly.
Doesn`t windows flash a message when the Numlock is on? - I know it does for Caps lock.

I haven`t gotten that drastic yet, -I was hoping it was something dumb that I was or wasn`t doing. -The strange thing is that other keyboards , wired and Wireless (edit) work fine still and also I can use the Advent keyboard OK on the windows 8 machine , which has the same password and IT works OK there too.

Edit:- and I`ve installed a large program and its add-ons which I would lose and have to re-install (FSX) if I did that, although it seems I may have to.
Edit: I want to avoid that if I can thinking about it , because FSX is limited to 3 installs with its DRM and if I have to re-install it I don`t think it will accept the Activation key again.

Is it possible to roll back JUST the updates?

If your keyboard has volume/mute keys then the NVidia audio update may have interacted with it.

Yeah, you could be right,- its not got Dedicated volume keys, -it uses a function key combo, - F4 + Fn is the mute, -This is the keyboard , (the smaller keyboard in the picture).

Ha! ha!, that's not all of them either.. 3 connected to different PCs & 1 to the tablet under the desk.(5 if you count the touchscreen keyboard) - I REALLY have to stop and think when I type something....:)
