    My external 750 hdd fell down accidentally, when i plug it and access my hdd it says E: is not accessible.. so i try 2 reinstall drivers.. reboot my computer. it say I/O Error, so i try using my extra external board (if ever my 750 external board is broken) so now it says "The Disk in drive E: is not formatted format it now?
    ///
    What should i do with this... is there another way not to format this.. is too hard to recover files.. can anyone help me... it took days in scanning..

    Thanks in Advanced...

    I guess I am the bearer of bad news :( Your external drive is probably damaged beyond repair - when it fell internal damage was caused and it is likely that the read/write heads crashed onto the platter (disk) damaging it and making those sectors unreadable.

    In the event that the disk controller within the external enclosure is damaged, but the disk itself is OK you may be able to recover data - and continue to use the drive - by putting the drive into another external enclosure. I would not be very hopeful.

    If the data on the drive is irreplaceable - and if this is the case the value of having an independent backup of that data is highlighted - your only recourse is a company dealing with data recovery - that will be expensive.

    As the disk is not recognised by Windows conventional file recovery software will not work.
