I have a folder (tree) full of PDF files.
Is there a way in Windows Seven to search the folder(s) for keywords in the files?
    Thanks

Possibly not in 7, but with the aid of a 3rd Party program such as Agent Ransack (freeware) should be possible.

I use FileLocator Pro - the paid version and both have the ability to search for 'File Name' -in your case this would be *.pdf, 'Containing Text' which would be your keyword. Screenshot from Agent Ransack below.

Keep in mind that when a PDF contains a scanned page, there are no "words" in the PDF file . . . it's nothing more than a picture in a PDF.

If that 'picture' has words displayed on it, you can use "OCR" (Optical Character Recognition) software to try and find the "characters" on the page.

    Thanks, PeteC.
That's a very handy piece of gear.
I wonder why MS dropped the "Find " function in Windows Explorer.

Good one! I LOVE Agent Ransack, which I have been using for years. You'll love it, too.
