I have a HL-DT-ST GH50N ATA DVD+RW that works when you insert a CD or DVD but it will not show up under "My Computer ". I am running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.

If I go to "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Administrative Tools\Disk Management" the DVD drive DOES show up as "Drive D: "

Does it show up in My Computer when there is a data disk in the drive?

If it does I suspect you have .....

Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > View - Hide empty drives in the Computer folder checked. If it is, uncheck it.
