When I cancel all printing by my HP Deskjet, it does not cancel.

Even rebooting does not delete the spool file and it continues to print garbage.

How do I really cancel and delete everything in the spool file

Log to HP.com d/l latest driver to HD.

I suggest you completely uninstall the printer and drivers from the printers folder and all HP printers from control panel add/remove if any.

    Disconnect printer & reboot.

Let it come up without printer.

Shut down reattach printer turn on and install printer again.

Thanks very much for you reply

I hope someone can come up with a simpler and fast solution. I have found that, with patience and maybe a couple of reboots it fixes itself.

So I am still looking for a solution

Where are you trying to cancel it from?
I had that problem before and was told to cancel it from the MACHINE it self not the computer--than unplug the printer--reboot the the computer and if you get a message that say--you have printing in queqe cancel that and then plug the printer back in.
    Good luck,
    Paul

I've fought that battle with nearly every printer I've ever used. Some of them cause so much time loss, especially if needing the printer again in the same session, it can truly be a frustration.

My technique for cancelling has evolved to hitting the power switch to the printer. (Full Control there!) Then it's necessary to reboot and select the appropriate option if asked about what to do with the print queue. That's the only tried and true method I know.

    :)

This is one of the reasons I use an Epson now. I can cancel a print and it finishes the page and stops.

When I had a HP I had to pull the paper from the tray and wait for a timeout and then select cancel print.

I've never owned an Epson (my brother had an Edsel but that's another story :) ) The more I hear about them the better they sound. I hear tell they use waterproof ink and you can soak the printout for a week and still not have a blur. Then they have multiple ink cartridges so you don't have to throw away all colors when one goes dry. And on and on...

But of course I will then miss all the satisfaction I get from flipping the switch on the Canon to stop it from having its way.

Probably be my next one too.

Hi If you can catch it quick enogh pause the print job then purge it

It helps to have a shortcut on the desktop if you cant catch the printer icon in the running area of task bar.
