I'm trying to migrate to W8. Ont thing that I need to do is transfer the pinned items (jump lists), especially for IE9 and Chrome. I can't see how to do this. Any ideas? None of the pinned URLs are in the Favorites or Bookmarks lists.

    TIA,
    Hank Arnold (MVP)

Save your shortcuts from Windows 7. They are in %AppData%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar

Next, open the registry editor & navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Taskband

Right-click on Taskband, and from the context menu select Export. Save the .reg file with suitable name. Notice that in the "Export Registry File" dialog box under Export range "Selected branch" is selected and it lists the above mentioned registry key.

Next, copy/paste the shortcuts in the same place on your Windows 8 install, then import the registry settings to the registry (by double clicking on the registry key you exported).

Log out of Windows, then log back in... your pinned items will now be available.

Thanks. That's a useful tip. but what I'm looking for are the "jump list" of items pinned to each of the taskbar programs. The main one being Internet Explorer. I have a dozen web pages pinned to IE that are not in my Favorites.
    These are the biggest problem.

Jump lists and pinned items are two different things.

Jump lists are located in %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\CustomDestinations

    and

    %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations

You'll just need to copy the files from these folders.
