Following instructions found many places online I have added the following to my XP SP3 registry:

    Code:
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\CommandPrompt]
        @= "DOS "
        [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\CommandPrompt\Command]
        @= "cmd.exe /k cd %l "

This works, sort of, but it opens a puny, unresizeable DOS window.

I want instead a good resizeable window like that I get with the shortcut:

    Code:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /e on
I have tried various permutations, such as:

    Code:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /e on /k cd %l
But they all give the puny DOS window.

Can anyone suggest a way to improve on this and get a good DOS window?

    Thanks, Robert

Is this a new home build computer? What prompted you to want to change the registry? Did a normal DOS window ever open correctly?

What happens when you click on start > run > type cmd ? Why do you want to re size out of interest?

    kind regards,

Right-click the top of the open command window and select Properties. From the Layout tab you can set the Window Size.

No. I prefer solutions I can control. I never tried it before.

I thought I did. I was fooled by the existence of a check in the box on the dropdown.

    Sorry.
