I'm using a 120Gig OCZ SSD drive that I'm having a few sudden BSOD's recently that gives me concern. I know I'm not supposed to defrag SSD drives, but I've defragged all of the data partitions that I typically use the most, and I've run Ccleaner on the SSD, as well as Revo Uninstaller to clean up any residuals from old apps. What's left to do?

You can see my PC config in my signature.

I only have an SSD drive on my laptop and haven't had any reason to do any maintenance on it (but I can't see that is much faster than disk drives, at least on my system).

Find out why you shouldn't do a defrag. I think I can see why, since there is no actual "place" where the data is stored, it is just in memory.

I avoid using CCleaner's offer of any registry "cleaning ". I installed it for my friend, he didn't follow my warning not to clean the registry and I had to "rebuild" his computer.

Revo, I have avoided using it. It sounds too aggressive for me. Standard uninstallers should work better now than in the old days, although there will probably be those that won't do it properly. [Are complete uninstallers still available for Symantec and HP printers?? :D:D]

Don't touch the registry if you can avoid it. Cleaning software asks YOU if you want to remove registry settings. Say yes and the system might not work correctly.

You could try using System Restore (from the F8 Boot Menu), but post the logs as Arie suggested and see if anything is identified from those (several need to be checked).

If you are familiar with SSD's you could be aware that the general advice is to always make sure defrag is not running on your SSD drive. Disk defragmentation is unnecessary on an SSD drive and can even have a negative effect on the endurance of the drive. (see Intel's FAQ)

To even out usage on its internal memory chips SSD firmware intentionally splits data up across all of the SSD's memory chips (so called 'wear leveling')

Make sure you have the latest firmware for your drive. OCZ Drives have had a few firmware updates. Check on the OCZ website/forum.

Thanks for your responses. I checked about the f'ware, and it they say you can't install it unless you have a dual boot system. I need to install it from a 2nd Primary partition. And that's only if I ABSOLUTELY need to. I'm thinking maybe my virus protection s'ware was conflicting with my DAW s'fare. So, I uninstalled it, and installed M'soft's Security Essentials. I'll wait and see what happens.

    Consider this case solved.

That's more then likely BS. OCZ uses an SSD toolbox from where you can update the firmware from a running OS. Give your drive name/version/firmware version so we can inform you properly.
