I deleted a music file named "Greatest Hits" from my desktop now every time I run the backup from the action center backup and restore I get an error message telling me that the backup did not complete because it cannot find the file "Greatest Hits ", how can I fix this?

This is a stab in the dark, but I would try create a new Music File with the same name, put a few files in it and complete the backup.
Then remove it from the backup volume, so it won't be looking for it anymore.
    Just something I would try.

Please see the link below which will be helpful to you to know more about System Backup and Restore in Windows 7,
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Back-up-and-restore-frequently-asked-questions

And check if Volume shadow copy and windows backup services are running and set to automatic in Services Console.
Click on Start, type Services in Start Search. When the Services page is open, scroll the page to find Volume Shadow Copy and Backup service.
Right click on them and check if they are started.
If the services are disabled, start the services and set it to Automatic and check if the issue gets resolved.

You could do a system restore, then delete all backup images, and immediately make a new image backup.

    Hope this information helps you.

    kind regards,

Error:(The system cannot find the file specified. (0x80070002)) how can this be?

Very good you let us have the error message. From here there are many links that may help however I would follow this one for starters as this may solve your issue.

John, how long is it since you had your system cleared for Malware? Have you got any other telling issues on your system that may be suggesting anything untoward.

    kind regards,

There has to be a Logical solution to that. Do you always store music files on your Desktop, was this file the only original or was that a copy of the file, and the original is still present somewhere, do a search.
I would still try and restore that file let backup look at it again, then you must have in the backup settings a command where you tell backup where to look and what to backup, if you do not regularly store audio files on the desktop try and create a folder for your audio files on the desktop if you desire to have them there, and tell backup not to look for audio files on the desktop, and instead look for folders.
Again john a stab in the dark, but I am sure there is a simple solution to that, just a matter of finding it.

Hi Hawk, what I did was this, I downloaded this music file from the internet to my desktop, there it stayed for a week or more, then I moved it to my music folder where it still is and deleted the file on my desktop,I have created an empty file with the same name now on my desktop to keep the backup program happy but this seems rediculous.
I can find where I can tell the backup not to backup the desktop but not to ignore a specific file?

I had this error sometime ago and it proved to be very hard to solve. A file installed was the reason, .NET Framework Vesta for Vista, Windows 7, and
.NET Frameworks Vesta or XP server 2003. One of these files was corrupted, on reinstalling them, it corrected the error, worked for me.

.NET Framework is part of Windows 7, and Microsoft periodically updates this file. As it help me, thought in passing on to others experiencing difficulty in backup not finishing properly.

,NET Framework 4 was updated by Microsoft 14:08:2012. Microsoft at the time of my trouble with backup, said that they did not have an answer to the error.

Microsoft doesn't know either. I used this Google search:which searches all of Microsoft.com for the phrase "vesta for vista" that you used in your reply above. The response back from Google was:
No results found for site:microsoft.com "vesta for vista ".
Since: 1) I had never heard of it, 2) Microsoft didn't know, and 3) you're the one that brought it up, I thought I'd ask you what it was.

Yes it appears that I caused this discussion, and I apologize. I am having no more involvement with this topic as I can not substantiate content "Vesta for Vista" of my original posting.
