Resolved [New Spybot Search and Destroy has only minimal updates available?]

Since downloading and installing S S & D. Ver 2.0.12.0 with the current update 2.0.12 89 I find there are minimal updates available. Certainly not as many as there were before this new program was released. Does anyone else find the same.

Would appreciate if others find this situation.

Tip: According to broni, (Malware Analyst), Spybot and AdAware are past their prime. Current recommendations are the freeware versions of Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware.

I have both the others (free) you mentioned but have never bothered with AdAware. Avast antivirus free has always served me well. Do you think it best to uninstall SpyBot then?

I noticed that we have not been offered the new version as part of the regular updates, so I've stayed with the previous one, in my case 1.6, as the explanation of benefits for 2.0 seemed to focus on modernizing the user interface.

I do use the free versions of malwarebytes and superantispyware, as Broni suggested, but Spybot puts no load on my system, and the updates are regular each Wednesday, so I keep it. It's an old friend.

I have uninstalled on all computers SS&D 2.0.12.0 and installed Ver. 1.6.2. Glad I did that as when I ran it for problems it found 75 on my newest system, none on the others that don't get used so much on the internet.

I had a brief look at the second link you submitted, but decided to get rid of the newest version as it does not take my valuable time to execute those options in that post.

I am really glad I submitted the query as it has helped me no end.
