WOT refuses to run. It was O.K. a week ago, but I have noticed it has stopped working.
I’ve checked in Manage add-ons and is enabled. I have also re-installed still not working.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks

What browser are you using that you are having this problem with?

Not much of a solution to your exact problem, but I know that Firefox and Google Chrome (and I believe the latest versions of Internet Explorer) have their own service of warning you of potentially dangerous sites. If you don't get WOT running, and this is what you are looking for, tell us your browser and perhaps we can get a good substitute going for you.

    Thanks for your replies.

I had to go into Explorer\Tools\Internet Options\Advanced and under Browsing I had to put a check on Enable third-party browser extensions.

But now how did it get unchecked?
It was fine a few days ago. Mystery to me.

    WOT is working fine now.

psaulm119, would you have any suggestions on a substitute for WOT?
    I'm using IE 9.

    Thanks

In IE9, go to the Tools menu, then go to Smartscreen filter, then Turn on Smartscreen filter.

If that's the service you want, this is how to get it from Microsoft.

Like I said, Firefox and Chrome have their own services as well, as I'm sure Opera does.

I now have SmartScreen Filter turned on.

One last question then I'll leave you alone.

If I have SmartScreen Filter turned on do I need WOT?

    Thanks for your help.

I don't believe there is any reason to use both at once.

I mean, if you were really leery of a particular site that SmartScreen said was OK, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to go to WOT (you don't need to install anything to access its info on a given site)--so you could bookmark it. But I have never used two of these services at the same time.

It isn't something new has been included in IE since IE7, then it was called Phishing filter, with IE 8 it was changed and "upgraded" to SmartScreenFilter so it is well over 4 years old under that name and is also included in IE 9. It should be turned on by default. I have never turned it off, always been there and it sure isn't another WOT at least I have rarely gotten any type of warning from SmartScreenFilter but sure have from WOT.

    Thanks MrBill

My SmartScreen Filter was turned off, I guess by default so I have turned it on and will keep WOT.

    Thanks again.
