I may have choosen the incorrect category. Hopefully someone can directly me politely whether if this is an operating system issue.

We are Small Business with over 300 computers on the network. There are some computers experiencing "date changes" (to the current date), when moving or copying files, from folder to folder, without editing the files.

Alpha Server has OpenVMS. Patch was installed and fixed all but these few computers.

We've narrowed the problem to the operating system, which is XP Pro w/sp3. (Windows 7 works, i.e. dates do not change.)

In both XP and Win 7 - the Date MODIFIED column doesn't change the date if I copy a file. The Date CREATED will in fact change to today's date because it was just created in the new folder.

Odds are you need to add the Date Modified column.

The modified date stays the same when copying but not when moving.

True, the creation date stays same however, we are not utilizing the creation date column. The concern is the modified date of the documents.

Pretty certain there are no settings within Windows that will help. Also pretty certain there are free apps on the internet that will help.
