Lately I am getting a sony ad popping up in the bottom right side of my laptop screen. This will happen several times an hour. There is an x to close it out but that doesn't work. The ad is to buy a new sony however if you click on shop, etc it does nothing same as closing out...nothing.
I have ran malware and virus protection but can not remove it.Any help would be appreciated.

Yes it is a Sony and a little over a year old. This has just started happening in the last few weeks.

Don't know what you are doing when you get this pop-up as you didn't say. If you are using IE, you can go to Tools/Pop-up Blocker and turn it on and see if this helps.

    It just popped up again in FF. I right clicked on the right side where it said service and support. This is the url that showed up in the properies('http://redirect.ddni.net/servlets/redirect?sku=##environment.sku##&pid=94383','ServicesAndSupport');

Hi, I think you will have to make a change in Services.

    I found this info:

    Step 1

Click on your "Start" menu button or orb and choose "All Programs." From this folder, hover over "Accessories" to expand that folder and click once to open "System Tools." Alternatively, you can type "Task Scheduler" in the Windows search bar and click the link when Windows locates the application.
    Step 2

Select "Task Scheduler Library" in the left pane of the windows, once the scheduler loads.
    Step 3

Click to highlight "Vaio Care" when it appears in the middle pane of the Task Scheduler.
    Step 4

Choose "Disable" from the "Actions" list in the right pane of the window. You may now exit the Task Scheduler by clicking the "X" in the top-right corner.

As you can see, this related to a Sony Vaio but I think it might pay to have a look and see if there is a reference to the "popup ad" that you might be able Disable.
My next step would be to contact Sony and request from them the method to Disable the ad as you WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER SONY PRODUCT UNLESS THIS ANNOYING AD IS STOPPED.
I think you will get some result from the latter. Cheers Neil.

it sounds like you have VAIO Messenger enabled.
click on the start button>all programs>scroll down and click on the VAIO Messenger folder>click on settings. you should see a dialogue box with this:

    VAIO Messenger
    I would like to receive:
[] Special Offers through VAIO Messenger
[] Alerts, tips and tricks through VAIO Messenger
[] Reminders when I have items in my VAIO Messenger Inbox

uncheck all boxes and click OK.
