    Hi,

I have an old laptop computer with 256MB's of RAM, and I would like to have an bootable antivirus CD for it.

When I was checking system requirements of several bootable antivirus CD's, I noticed that the minimum RAM required was 512! :-(

Does anyone know, a bootable AV rescue CD, that will work with 256MB's (preferably less) of RAM? I am a bit surprised, that they are so resource hungry.

    Regards, ThomasJK

They should run OK with 256.... Will probably run a bit slower.

So far I have tried AVG and Avira CD's. Laptop started to boot of of them, but froze at the point it had "loading kernel" or something like that on display.

But those CD's have several starting options. If it is possible, for them to run with less than 512MB's RAM, I guess I need to choose starting option that is something else than default-option. Maybe it would then run with less RAM. I will try again.

Thank you. I hadnt noticed that. I donwloaded Kaspersky rescue cd, and will try it later.

BTW, I also tried Avira cd with starting opition other than default. It allowed me to choose different screen resolutions, then it proceeded to boot, but again, froze at the point loading kernel, (something like that).
