Hello again to this wonderful support site. Hope you can help me again :) My father's computer is having problems. Have to go try and fix it tonight so am looking for a few pointers. As far as I know, he was trying to print something the other day and computer crashed. He had to switch it off manually. Now when he boots it, desktop comes up etc. but he cannot connect to internet. Keeps getting engaged message. Also, Outlook Express launches fine but once launched, he cannot get out of it. "X" does not work and control, alt, delete does not work. He has to switch off manually. Please help. Look forward to any suggestions.

    Adele2001--We need more information.
    1) What version of Windows? What version of Internet Explorer?
    2) Can you be more specific about the error message (like copy it exactly)?
    3) How does he connect to the Internet (dialup, cable, DSL)?
    4) Does he connect the same way to email?
    5) Is the email working other than the problem of shutting down?
In the meantime, assuming he has this on his PC, he might try Repair Internet Explorer. Start|Programs|Accessories|System Tools|System Information|Tools|click Internet Explorer Repair Tool from drop down list.

Thanks for your interest. Turned out everything is fine except that he couldn't connect to the internet and this turned out to be a server problem so he's a happy man again!!
