Hi, Any idea's please, we ( friends PC) have a prepaid Telstra Internet dongle , TZE MF 626 and when we hit connect on the Telstra Internet log in screen, we get an error message , that it "cannot find the remote PC ",
We have uninstalled and reinstalled ( several times) the programe ( it auto installs when stick plugged in, also installed manually.
Spent an hour on the phone with the service people but same result.
Problem occured after trying to remove a corrupt programe, the dongle is Ok works on the laptop,
It shows it is connected ( all the green bars) but a box pops up saying it cannot find the remote PC.
I have downloaded the book and will check all the inner settings tomorrow.
    Any suggestions appreciated.
    Thanks Des.

Hi, Tony, My friend and his mate were downloading music etc , and after having a couple of reds?? they think they shut the PC down with the internet still switched on . next time they switched on , it flashed up a AVG warning, saying some file was missing, but then we could not open the AVG Free 2013 file , it also had removed the icon from bar etc and it just kept coming up each time we turned it on. and it would not let us remove it from all programes it just used to jam. then we found this internet problem.
Yesterday I could remove all the AVG files . but still the internet problem . I have loaded an older version of AVG 09 from my stick just in case they get on line before we can reload 2013 AVG.
Everything seems back to normal now except the " can find remote PC" message .
    Cheers Des.

    Thanks.
What operating system on that computer?
Also, if you didn't delete the AVG logs, post the text from the log re the missing file. It will give a clue as to what's needed to fix this issue.

Hi, It is XP Home, I have cleared out all the AVG stuff I could find when it at last let me remove AVG 2013 , would the logs be somewhere else? since then I have checked the settings for the dongle on the PC, as the hand book instructs and they are the same as his laptop which it works Ok on,
Do you think it is worth trying a "System restore ".
IT may be a couple of days before I get back as he has visitors for Xmas,
Thanks again for your time ,
Have a great Xmas , Tony. Cheers Des.

Hi Sorry about the delay, but he has done a several System Restores, since I have been there, back well before they messed about with it , but he has just told me that the stick would not connect at all. I can't think of anything else to try.
Looks as though he is going to take it into a repairer when he goes down to the city.
I have a good shop that does our repairs and improvements and they charge reasonable prices.
They have just made me up a new tower a couple of weeks ago.
so I will recommend that he goes there, so I will mark this as solved for now.
Thanks again for your help. I will post up the results , when / if it is solved so we can store it away in the memory bank.
    Cheers Des.
