Hi, the usb port where my keyboard is sometimes stops working and I reboot and it's ok. The keyboard is fine. I tested it in other ports. The usb port will fail in minutes or days after a reboot. There are no errors in USB serial bus controllers. (device manager) Thanks!

I am using Win XP Media Centre
    2 gig ram

Hi Bimmer Guy. It sounds like the USB port is wearing out. You could try going into Device Manager and uninstalling all USB controllers. After rebooting Windows the USB controllers will be reinstalled automatically. See if that corrects the problem with the USB port.

If the USB port still is not working properly then its most likely faulty.

Hi, thanks for replying. Do I unplug all the usb ports before doing what you suggested? Another thing...is it an option to purchase a device that only uses one port on the pc. All other devices plug into that. Don't know what they are called.

    Yes, unplug everything.

Yes they do make what you are talking about. Get a powered one if you are going to get one. Just Google powered usb hub.

Let us know what happens when you unplug everything and then remove them and reboot.

I went with purchasing a 7 port usb powered hub. They are a little more costly here in Canada. It will take some strain away from the power supply and clean up the cables a bit.

Thanks again for the great help
