I have a laptop, its a dell N5050 and it came with 3gb (1x1 + 2x1) of factory installed ram. I am trying to upgrade to 8gb (4x2). I can't understand why it my computer tells me I only have 4gb.. I've tried taking it out and putting it back in, but I am at a loss. :(

Edit// I apologize for my own stupidity but apparently I didn't plug it in all the way.. Sorry for the trouble.

Hi Jubis, If I understand your Edit, you have "Resolved" your problem. You have all your RAM shown and working?
Please mark as "Resolved" if it's OK. Neil.

If any "expert" claims they never made the same or similar mistake, they are likely lying!

The good news is, your RAM was not destroyed in the process, as often happens when only partially inserted.

Thanks for returning to your thread to post the update! That gives others an opportunity to learn from your ordeal - and that's what forums are all about! :)
