On restarting Windows XP after installing Microsoft updates, or for any reason, when XP comes back, it opens the default Search window. How can I disable that. It is not assigned to open in my MSCONFIG. Thanks.

Went to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer as explained but all I found was "Desktop/CleanupWiz ". Could not dlete delete the "DesktopProcess" value from the registry, as it was not there. Thanks anyway.

In msconfig, on the General tab select diagnostic Startup. Restart the system and see the if the folder still opens.

Did that. The Search Box persists in opening upon Restart. I can live with it. It was just a nuisance. Thanks for your suggestions Arie.
