Does anyone know what this error message means?
Access violation of address 00423870 in module comcastantispy.exe. Write of address 00000001.

And what I can do about it?

Thank you, Arie. I wasn't aware I had Comcast security, and I don't find it on my machine with a search. Could it be under a different name other than Comcast Antispy?

    Some other possibilities:

If you had the toolbar and removed it, Real Time Protection remains.

You can uninstall that component via Programs and Features in Control Panel.

    Still puzzled

    Comcast Toolbar
    CA-Real Time protection
    CA-Pest Patrol
    Xfinity Toolbar

Arie, thanks for trying to help, but I don't see any of these anywhere.

    Look in Add-Remove Programs.
You can also do a search for comcastb or comcast antispy, they may be folders that contain an uninstall program. You DO have it installed. The program is made by Computer Associates, a division of McAfee. It gets install at C:\Program Files\comcasttb or C:\Program Files (x86)\comcasttb, the uninstaller should be there. Also, delete the folder C:\Program Files\CA or C:\Program Files (x86)\CA. Reboot.

    Very little luck

Thank you, Tony. I looked again in Add-Remove Programs and didn't find any of those four. I also searched again for each one - and even McAfee - and didn't find any. I did see C:program Files (x86)\CA and deleted that and rebooted. Same error message.

I wondering if this has anything to do with another problem I have, that my iPhone won't sync my calendar with my PC. I'll go to an Apple forum to solve that one.

Go to Start > Run > type: msconfig > press OK button

(if Run command not available, rt click the start button > Properties > Customize button > checkmark Run command)

System Configuration > Startup tab > uncheck any reference to CA, Comcast Toolbar, CA-Real Time protection, CA-Pest Patrol, Xfinity Toolbar, comcastb, etc.

Open Web browser(s) > Tools Menu > Addons > disable any references to above items.

Comcast Antispy installs as a service. Check Control Panel > System & Security > Admin. Tools > Services > if any CA or Comcast stuff there set to Disabled and Stopped.
