Could I please ask a question about my Samsung N150 Plus, Windows 7 netbook failure of the Fn key.

I have seen from internet forums that this machine is notious for problems with the function, Fn, key which either doesn't work at all or, like mine, just suddenly stops working altogether with the loss of all the associated controls - brightness, volume etc.

So far, the only way that I have found to reinstate the Fn key is to restart the whole machine.

I am pretty sure it is not a programme conflict since sometimes it works for a whole hour before failing. Nevertheless, I have uninstalled my antivirus and other programmes that perform functions or updates on a regular basis in case of conflict during these activities but the problem still remains. Where possible I have rolled back some drivers to earlier versions. There seems to be no obvious pattern.

My question - Is there a log somewhere within W7 that I can look at after the failure of the Fn key to see what the problem is? What would you do?

    Thanks
    John Gladwell

Seems people are able to fix issues with the Fn key in several ways:

    • Make sure you have the latest BIOS installed
    • Remove and reinstall the Easy Display Manager
    • Roll back your graphics driver. Version 8.14.10.1972 has been reported to work.
