I make regular use of the FireFox personal dictionary C:\Users\...\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\...\persdict.dat

Sometimes, if I wish to edit it, or remove an inadvertent addition , it appears to work and the change is stored for future use.

At other times, although the change is apparently accepted, the list then reverts back to the older version, complete with errors.

Is there anywhere else that needs to be edited to resolve this problem.

I did experiment a few weeks ago with rearranging the contents into alphabetic order; well, it is a dictionary supplement after all!

This change remained for some time and was then overwritten, from who knows where, by the earlier, randomly ordered version.

    Any ideas??

Thanks for the link. I seem to recall reading it now, a l-o-n-g time ago.

Equally, I had thought that I had, at least once or twice edited the file while the browser was closed.

However, thought can be a tricky thing ...

Just closed the browser, reordered the list, and removed some 'reappearing' errors, and then alphabetized it.

That seems to be the correct way, so now I shall check out over the next couple of days. If it remains well-ordered, then hopefully the issue is fixed. If not ...

... in those immortal words 'I'll be back!'

    No, still not resolved.

The well-ordered list that seemed to be stable for several days has now mutated into an older version, complete with errors that I thought had been removed.

Is there more than one location for this file??
