I have a Samsung Netbook N120, WIN XP3 which will not connect to wireless LAN. The network is OK since 2 other computers are connected and working. N120 finds the wireless network but stops at "Obtaining an IP address ".

I have reinstalled driver for Realtek RTL8192E wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC.

I have checked Control Panel, System, Hardware that wireless LAN works and all settings seem to be in order. Starting the repair function does not solve pronblem.

It should be mentioned that the ethernet LAN netcard has been out of order for some time and not replaced.

Hope somebody may give a piece of good advice.

Normally it connects automatically but now I have manually to connect by entering password (Network key). It comes up a key of 8 digits/letters but my password really consists of 6 letters and 8 digits.

It does not connect whether I use the suggested password or the real one.

It may be added that other computers connect automacially with the original password (6 letters and 8 digits).

Check your wifi router for the DHCP addresses it hands out or if you have allowed only a select few mac addresses to connect to it.

If using Windows XP built in wifi connection manager, rt click the wifi icon near the clock and select "View available wireless networks ", then click on "Change order of preferred networks ". Delete all the stored wifi networks and press the OK button. Then start over and try to connect.
