Word Header/Footer

How do you suppress the first page number in the header / footer in Word?
In other words, I want to start numbering from page 2 and not show page # on 1.

 

Go to File>Page Setup. Under the Layout tab check "Different First Page." Then you can insert the page number field in the header/footer on the second page. Don't recall exactly, but you may need to format the field to start with 2 instead of 1. There may be another way to do it as well but this is how I do it the rare times it's necessary.

 

Or go to Insert>Page Numbers which will let you specify where you want the page number to appear (left, center or right) and uncheck the box next to "Show number on first page. "

Thanks, Miz! I knew there was probably an easier way to do it. I use Word just often enough to not be able to remember all of the features.
