Changing Windows update location?

    Hi,

    I have a 32gb solid state which i s full, and my computer keeps on trying to update to that drive. is there a way to change the location of the updates? and possiabley move the current updates to my other drive?

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

    As you know - Windows Updates update the operating system. Since Windows is on the SSD you're stuck with that...

    In addition to what Steve suggests above, have a look at my article Optimize Windows 7 for use with a Solid State Drive (SSD)

    IMHO 32 GB isn't going to cut it. At least not if you plan to install anything other then Windows.

    Now, you probably can move the \WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution folder (I would have to verify this), but how much would you gain? My \WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution folder is "only" 600 MB. (I did remove my Windows 7 SP1 backup files as explained in page 3 of my article).
