The following is a User Account Control. I have this come up many times. I would like to get rid it for ever.

    User Account Control
Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?
    Program name: Registry Editor
    Verified publisher: Microsoft Windows
    Yes NO

I can not Turn user Account Control on or off to make changes to this computer. I can not get rid of The User Account Control and it requires me to go to Yes or No to get rid of that.

I think it is a bad idea to switch off UAC.

We should be asking why anyone would get a (repeated) prompt for the registry editor in the first place.

I think I got rid of User Account Control. At least I got rid of the Yes and No. Will hope things will remain gone.

Yeah I agree with you but if wahlroot sepcifically wanted to disable UAC because they are tired of seeing the Yes/No Prompts then thats his/her choice.

Instead of completely disabling UAC you at least keep some security measures in place using the method that I linked to above.

@wahlroot, just letting you know that your system will be less secure with UAC disabled so be warned.

My question (it isn't clear from the posting): Is OP getting the prompt because he is trying to open the registry editor, or is he getting the prompt without him doing anything.

From his original posting it looks like the latter:

which worries me; that is not something that would happen on a normal system.

Running without UAC is asking for trouble. Read: Taming Vista's User Account Control

Agree, find out the cause. You can say "This is annoying ", but ask yourself why?

I like UAC, it is a double-check. Have you missed something?

Maybe, if you turn it off, you will never know until it is too late.
