I occasionally run Driver Pack Solutions application and it always flags up a warning that I have 'Multiple Antivirus Applications' installed and words to the effect that this is a bad idea. As far as I'm aware I only have one AV application installed, i.e. Windows Security Essential, so imagine that there must be some relics of old AV programs hidden on my hard drive from the distant past, (I bought the PC second hand).
I am aware that most, if not all, the various AV software people offer applications to remove these deep seated relics of their own programs which is fine if you know what brand(s) have been on your computer in the past, which obviously I don't.
Does anyone know of a program (preferably free of course) which will scan the HDD and identify left over bits of Antivirus software and perhaps remove them, although at least if I know what needs to be cleaned off I can choose an appropriate package to do this.
I found an application on Google called OPSWAT which looked as if it might do just this but I just cannot get it to install.
    Many thanks for any suggestions.

Yes, I suppose it could be but I'll never know.

You could try CCleaner. It is very good at what it does. I have even used the Registry cleaner with it and never had a problem. And the best part of it is that it is FREE.

Many Thanks for interest MR Bill. I have actually tried two or three different Clean-Up tools to no avail but I must admit, not CCleaner, maybe I'll give it a go.
The more I think about this issue of supposedly Multiple AV Apps I am beginning to think that SpywareDr could be right, i.e. 'Driver Pack Solution' is telling me lies.
I have tried posting on the DRPS forum but the issue of translation to and from Russian confuses the issue. Anyway, I'll let you know the final outcome.

I have managed to get the OFSWAT application installed at last and it did in fact find a couple of bits of Malwarebites hanging about. Got rid of those and my problem is solved.
Many Thanks to those who replied.
