this is the most weird thing ive ever seen. at first thought it was the bug that puts attributes on everything so they appear invisible. after running rkill and unhide only thing that comes back is the program folder. ran malwarebytes and found no errors although client said a program came up telling him of all the bugs and wanting 79.00 to fix the normal bug ive seen many times. whatever hit this machine specifically isolated on clients data only. programs work after using unhide but no pixs no music no briefcase no data what so ever. even at dos prompt nothing found in folders.

has anyone seen this ??? is this a new variant that specifically zaps just the data ??? ive never seen this kinda damage before. have fixed 100 machines using the unhide with no problems but this one is nasty.

any info would be appreciated. rebuilding machine back to defaults now but if this is new i would like to know what i can do.

This is definitely malware, I suggest you go back to the anti-malware forum and follow Broni's instructions this time.

not going to happen already talked to him his diagnostics take days if not longer. ive seen this particular bug hundreds of times before and i know how to remove it successfully but this time theres a twist to it like i described. was just asking if anyone has seen this new twist.

bronis work is fine but you all forget you cant leave clients without a machine for days if not longer. good way to lose clients. ive already rebuilt the machine and its going back to client tomorrow all im asking is if anyone has seen this new twist to the bug that uses the attrib to make everything disappear thats all im asking ???

Well I'm afraid I can't help you. You appear confident enough to handle by yourself though. Let us know how you get on.

Viruses constantly evolve, and it could also be a combination of multiple viruses that lead to this.

Run an effective anti-virus... as it look like cause of a virus or many.
