I have what I believe to be the worst Model Laptop ever produced, an HP G62-320CA Notebook PC.

After wasting considerable time sorting out problems with this I still have one outstanding issue I certainly would appreciate help with.

I would like to know if anyone can tell me how to use the Numeric Keypad, if that is at all possible.

However, I suspect, like having to use 2 keystrokes to activate any of the function keys, the only Laptop ever produced that requires this ridiculous system, HP most probably thought that using a numeric keypad was really not necessary and therefore did not consider including it.

    Many Thanks.

I am assuming you are talking about a regular number pad on the laptop like a regular keyboard on the right side.

Num Lock button or you can usually turn it on in the BIOS and you won't have to worry about it anymore.

What kind of problems did you sort out when this happened?

This laptop does not have a NumLock button. Any other problems have no bearing on my problem.

Does it have the number pad on the right like a regular keyboard does? Most that I have seen on the net don't have this. You have to use the ones on the top. If they don't work that is another problem. Sometimes fixing one problem creates another problem.

It doesn't have a number pad on the right hand side. Other laptops have a method for using the number pad even if it is not a standalone item. This is what I am trying to solve with this laptop.

Shut down the notebook. Remove the battery for a couple of minutes without the power adapter plugged in and then replace it.

Your keyboard doesn't have a numeric keypad? Correct?
What are you trying to do?
If you want to use for calculations - this is in Accessories.
The User Manual also explains about Default settings for Function Keys and how you can change the operation. Neil.

On many laptops that do not have a separate number pad, some of the letter keys also have numbers printed on them which can be activated by pressing a [fn] key and/or [NumLock] key.

The HP G62 series does not include any type of number pad, separate or these dual-function keys.

    One solution: Separate NumberPad.
