Hello, I created a normal, full windows backup to an external drive some time ago. When I've subsequently returned to the backup control panel to do the incremental backup, and clicked the 'Backup now button ", nothing happens - no error message, nothing. Same thing when I click the "Turn on schedule" or "Change settings link" - absolutely nothing happens! I can see the backup on the external drive, but I just can't update it. Any suggestions? Thanks. Regards,Tom

    Welcome to the boards.

What did you use to do the backup with? There are dozens of programs out there that do this.

Also please fill out your system specs and when finished, be sure to SAVE them.

Hello, I used the Win 7 native backup program that came with the OS.

I followed Fred Langa's instructions in the May 12, 2011 Windows Secrets newsletter, which appears similar to the one you recommended. It seemed to set up okay and I could see both the system image and windows backup - it just won't let me do any more incremental backups and won't even let me access the backup scheduler.

    readtom,

Sorry it didn't work for you. Why it didn't is beyond my expertise to figure out. I hope someone else on this BBS might have an idea.

Actually, I've now given up and gone back to using SyncToy and Drive Snapshot, both of which I've used for years, always been satisfied with and know for sure work well. Just thought I would give these native Win 7 backup programs a try since everyone seems to recommend them - didn't work for my system though.

    Thanks anyway Frank D.

    Regards,
    Tom
