Windows Vista Laptop running slow

    IMNSHO I'd try a fresh install. If that doesn't solve the problem, you'll know its time for new hardware :D

    If that's the most significant CPU usage you're seeing in perfmon, the CPU gadget you're using must be inaccurate.

    Have you run HD and RAM diags? If so, and they don't report any errors, I'm with Arie: Do a fresh install of Windows and test again.

    The task manager shows the percentage of CPU being used and that is the same as the sidebar CPU meter.
    I think I'll wait for Windows 8 to come out and try installing that, I believe it will be launched later this month.

    Ok then. When you install Windows 8 hopefully that will resolve the problem of your laptop running slow. Remember to update the drivers and install all the latest Windows Updates for the laptop after Windows 8 is installed so you get the best performance.
