At the bottom of IE9, there almost always appears a pop-up notification. It varies from "Speed up browsing by disabling add-ons," to "Internet Explorer has modified this page to help prevent cross-site scripting." How do I stop this unwanted pop-up?

    Hi NeverBoring.

To disable cross-site scripting, take a look here, Windows 7 - Internet Explorer - Cross-site Scripting (XSS) Filter - Turn On or Off.

To disable the Speed up browsing by disabling add-ons notification, open IE9 and click Tools< Toolbars< Disable add-ons. The Choose add-ons window will open. Where it says Tell me when the delay caused by add-ons exceeds: Set the time limit to 10.00 seconds and click the Done button when you are finished. Restart IE9 for the changes to take effect.

Thank you for your reply. I wish to retain cross-site scripting. However, the pop-up notice at the bottom is not wanted. Is it possible to disable the notice and retain cross-site scripting? I followed instructions to disable the Speed up Browsing.

Yes in a kind of round about way. Instead of modifying the Internet Zone to disable cross-site scripting, highlight the Trusted sites Zone and click on Custom level. Set the Enable XSS filter to disabled for the Trusted Sites Zone and then click Ok.

This will leave the XSS filter for the Internet Zone active but disable it for any websites that are in the Trusted sites Zone.

If there are any websites that you frequently visit where you get the Internet Explorer has modified this page to help prevent cross-site scripting notification, then you can add these sites to the Trusted sites Zone so you don't get that message anymore.

You will have to manually add the sites to the Trusted sites Zone that you want to disable the XSS filter for.
