i have a hp pavilion dv6 2155dx laptop and the LCD is dim so i need to repair but in the meantime im using a monitor which is a gateway fpd1530, been using it for a while and now it currently stop working, im using a VGA cable with it, i dont know exactly what happened to it but when i plug it in the orange light goes out and it says ''power saving mode'' but when i take the plug out the light is green on the monitor and it says ''no signal, check signal cable'' of course, any diagnosis for me?

Are you able to check that the monitor works on another computer using the same VGA cable and, as confirmation, a different VGA cable?

If it does work the problem most probably lies with the laptop and may well be related to the display problems you have on the laptop.

the VGA cable works on my old computer which runs windows vista so the problem does rely on the laptop, is there a solution to my problem? any advice will help me as i have no money at the moment to fix my laptop screen and i rely on the monitor to use the lsptop, i dont know why it all of a sudden stop working after all this time.

And the monitor works on your old computer too?

You could always try reinstalling the graphics driver on the laptop and see if that resolves the issue, but if the problemis hardware related it is unlikely to make any difference.
