I’m trying to install advast free antivirus, during the install, Windows Installer says:
The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Below that it says: Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package ‘vc_redmsi’ in the box below. Its labeled Use source with dropdown memu and browse button beside it. The Use source box had two option,
C:\ProgramData\MFADat\pack\ and the other choice listed is 1. I have no clue as to what to do, thanks in advance, also i see it is trying to install google chrome and i didnt see that anywhere during the setup and i used custom setup? or is all this questions for advast?

Have installed Avast and upgraded without any hassles on 3 comps all running XP Home.
Did you go to Avast web site to get your copy?
You do have the option to uncheck chrome installation. You must have missed it! Read very carefully before you click on "NEXT ".
I would suggest you uninstall and start again.
Did you have any previous AV installed before?

It pays to remove any prior AV's and start with a clean system.

I have previously Downloaded and "saved" to Desktop from Avast. Disconnected internet, and uninstalled all AV material before installing Avast.
Once it's loaded and you need to Register and check for program updates, re-connect internet and she's all sweet as. Neil.
