    Dear Sirs,

In a new blank sheet, the cell content can overflow to the adjoining cell(s).
But I can't do it in an old worksheet which keeps data.

The adjoining cells have nothing in them.

Could you please kindly instruct. Thanks.

    B. rgds,
    Peter Ho.

Click on the cell where the data is. Click the "ALIGN Left" button on your tool bar.

    Thank you for your instruction.

I did as per your instruction. But, it's in vain.

If the option for Text Wrap is checked, then instead of overflowing, the text in a cell will stay (visually) within that cell, creating a higher cell if needed.

I don't know if this will resolve your problem, but in a cell that has this problem, why not look at the formatting options and see if text wrap is selected. If so, uncheck it.

I only have Office 2010 so I'm not sure how to tell you what menu to look for.

If that doesn't work, the Mr. Excel forums have never let me down when I've had an Excel problem.
