When I go to "My Pictures" I can see folders with up to 4 pictures inside that gives me an idea what pictures are in the folder.

I started getting my photos partition full so I transferred some pictures over to my 1TB drive. This only has the folders and no pictures inside them. I have no idea what's in each folder.
How come "My Pictures" folder does this but the my pictures folder I made doesn't? Is there a way to have the pictures show up?

    Thank you,
    Chris.

Welcome to BBS.:) Please take the time to fill in your System Details in UserCP and don't forget to scroll to the bottom of the page and Save.

I'm just checking my XP comp to see if it's the same as Vista.
My Vista Pictures has 34 to 35 Folders with photos in them. I double click on a folder and it opens and displays all the photos contained therein. I hope I'm understanding what you are saying.

My Pictures Folders would be holding around a thousand photos and I don't have a problem with space. I use Picasa 3.9 and Import to it and create Albums which show as Folders in Pictures.

Please let us know if this is what happens for you or have you set up a separate Pictures partition? Neil.

The My Pictures folder in XP and later is a specific folder for pictures and is an integral part of Windows. Thus that folder is coded to show a taste of the contents within the folder icon - see Win 7 below.

The folder you created on your external drive is just a simple folder like any other in Windows or on your external drive and does not have the attributes of the My Pictures folder.

You can move the My Pictures folder to another drive - Google for Move My Pictures folder in XP for instructions.

Right-click the folder, select the Customize tab and from the What kind of folder do you want? drop-down box select Photo Album.

This worked good, although it was a little different getting to it in my XP.
Sorry about not having my specs, I was on Windowsbbs for a long time but something happened and I guess I somehow started over.

I will post them, and will change it again very soon after I get a few more questions answered about my soon upgrade.

You need to go the folder the photos are stored in, Right click in a blank area where the photo files are listed, select View, then select Thumbnails. After the hidden file named Thumbs.Db is created by all the photos being read, your folder icon should reflect the contents.
