This seems dopey but when I get the message files waiting to be burned, by the time I insert the CD, the message goes away and I can't figure out how to burn the files. On XP, explorer had a menu option to burn files when you opened the blank cd. I don't see that with Win 7 explorer. TIA.

In Windows Explorer, right click the CD writer and "Burn to disc" should be one of the options in the menu that opens.

Thanks for the quick reply, unfortunately that is not one of the options. Could it be because the CD is rewritable?

I tried it on a CD/DVD writer that didn't even have a disc in it and got that option.

I also have a CD/DVD reader (not a burner) and did not get that option. As you sure it's a burner?

Yes. I can burn if I navigate to the burning folder. I just wanted to know the short cut like with XP.

Thanks but all I get is "drag files to this folder to burn." BTW, the autoplay box does appear when the CD is inserted but there is no burn option on it. I am guessing that is because the CD already has data on it and it asks if I want to explore it.

I should also note that unlike XP, when I set up this CD/RW it asked how I wanted to use it and I selected the option to use it like a flash drive. That was because when I used it like a CD/R it would prevent me from rewriting it again unless I erased/formatted it first.

When I have files waiting to be burned and in the Computer window I select the CD/DVD drive, the option "Burn to disc" appears on the toolbar at the top of the window. Deselect it and that options disappears from the toolbar.

If that doesn't work for you, I'm out of ideas as far as finding a shortcut.
