I have a problem that just started recently. The computer is an HP Pavilion and the operating system is Win 7. The computer was being used to pay some bills at a bank site and then was shut down. The next morning when the computer was restarted there was no internet access. A restore point was selected and internet access was restored. When the computer was turned off and then later restarted the internet access was missing again. Each time the restore point is used internet access is returned. Each time the computer is turned off and later restarted internet access is lost. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, dutch

    It is wired or wireless?

Are you making certain that you're letting the machine completely boot up?

I would check IE> Options> then check all settings for any changes, or try Default Settings..

If you are using McAfee this sounds very similar to a long running, and ongoing, issue that they are experiencing.

    Have a look at https://community.mcafee.com/thread/28074?start=0&tstart=0

The thread is entitled Firewall blocking internet connection, but be warned, there are almost 50 pages of stuff, most of which is from around the end of April this year.

I recently experienced this problem with McAfee. An upgrade from last weekend was the villain. A workaround was available on their website but with no internet access how do you find it? My solution, remove McAfee Virus Plus and install AVG.

Two years back had nothing but trouble with files changing without my knowledge. Removed McAfee then from mycomputer, concentrated with Microsft Security Essentials and its daily updates, "reliable ".

Sorry for such a long interval from last post. It turned out that the Wi-Fi module on the mother board was bad. I ended up buying a USB Wi-Fi stick. Solved the problem imediately. I appreciate everyone's input and I promise to respond right away next time.

    Thanks again,
