Try downloading and running JavaRa to remove all versions of Java that are found.

See if that tool is able to fully remove Java.

I've done those steps before but I can try again. I see there's a download called Java Fix. Should I try that?

I can't find a JavaRa.log file I used the JavaRa tool to remove Java and see no log file. I ran registry cleaners and deleted folders left behind. Then I tried to install
Java 7 update 5. The installation goes through but then on verifying it, it does not run.

I've been monitoring your progress Alicia and believe me that if I knew some new way of uninstalling Java I would have you try it. Unfortunately it looks like the methods that you have tried in this thread so far haven't been successfull.

Using the JavaRa tool to remove older versions of Java has always worked on other computers that I have used it on and I just don't get why it hasn't worked in your case.

Lets see if some other members can chime in.

Do you think I should perhaps venture into the registry to see if there are still leftovers? Risky I know.

Yes you can but be very careful. Search for the terms Java and Sun and delete only those items that are found in the registry. Deleting the wrong registry key can hose your entire Windows install.

You should also create a System Restore point just in case.

Check here HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall double click on uninstall highlight each entry and delete any key that makes reference to Sun or Java. but first back up your registry or create a restore point. Good luck.

Hello Alicia, Give the batch reg fix in this this post a shot:
    http://forums.whatthetech.com/index.php?showtopic=104537

Also can you give me an url to the site with java that is the issue?
Which Browser you use as default and if you have double checked that browser for any plugin related to Java that may need enabled or removed. Security setting in said browser that allows java to run.,,,,etc.

Would I use the JavaMSIFix or the Fixjava.zip?
Should I uninstall using control panel first?

Revo Uninstaller which has a FREE version (the 1.94 one on the left), will uninstall Java and all the Registry things that pertain to Java. Have used it many many times and not a problem. When you get to the Uninstall screen, you will have 4 choices. The 3rd one has a TIC in it. Do the 4th one. Then follow the screens from there.
