After I backed up my bookmarks to a floppie, NOW every time i open IE6 or bookmark the Dang floppie tries an access and slows the whole thing down......very annoying. I have to re-boot to get ride of this annoying ****.

Anyone have a fix for this.....short of re-booting...???

Sorry about that. I should have asked what O/S right off.
Could it be your antivirus seeking the A drive?
Have you cleared out your recently used My Documents list?

Gads, been busy trying all that stuff at axcel site...BUT it still remains, untill i re-boot.......

    I hate re-booting, sometimes i run it for 2-3 months without a re-boot.

There should be something reggie related after i up-date something from a floppy to keep it looking at my floppie drive.

If you backed your faves up to the A:\ drive and then put them back on from it, probably all your paths in the URL shortcuts are pointing to the A:\ drive instead of to the websites you wish to access. Go to C:\WINDOWS\FAVORITES and rightclick one of the URL shortcuts and check that its path is pointing to the website and not to the A:\ drive.

No, basically this is exactly what happens:

I backed up my faves, address bk and some other text files from one puter and want'd to bring my newly imaged win2000 upto date......so i used it's import/export wizard to get them from the floppie to my new system and NOW every time i click a fav url, it try's to seek the floppie first and this is the annoying thing i want to get ride of....

    A guess but seems logical.

How about exporting all to a location on your hard drive, deleting the existing, and importing from the hard drive export files.

If the floppy import caused the problem, that should repoint everything to the hard drive and stop the floppy seek.

Yep, that works but isn't anything more than a work around.

i still don't understand why we couldn't find any other way to correct the paths.

    Appreciate the help and thanks.

Agreed, it is just a work-around (and a kludge at that) and doesn't speak to the cause or a cure for the cause at all.

And I have absolutely no idea whatever about the cause of the problem or a more elegant fix.

Just glad you got it working.
