I bought win 7 and installed it on a dell D630 Latitude that had Xp premium and 2 gb ram and when I went to auto update it had 2 important updates listed. I selected them and it only did one. It gave me the standard error of failed on the sp1 update. I have tried several times and now it just locks up my system without downloading a single byte...What's up with that??? Thanks

Thanks for the reply Evan...I went to the link and was not sure which file to select...I started the .iso file but it was very large so I cancelled it. I didn't think I needed to make a cd. I then followed so troubleshooting files which didn't help as well. I went back to windows update and again got no files downloaded. I got the 800736cc error again.

If you running Windows 7 32-bit then download the file marked as windows6.1-KB976932-X86.exe.

If you are running Windows 7 64-bit then download the file marked as windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe.

Also just in case you get that same error message when you attempt to install Windows 7 SP1 take a look here, Windows Update error 800736CC.
