w2kpro lost file sharing ability

I seem to have lost my ability to assign sharing to files and directories. Previously I have been able to right click on a file or directory click on sharing and assign. Now when I right click on a file or director then click on sharing nothing happens. This has happened at some inderminate time within the last month.

Likewise, when I right click on a drive or directory and then on Properties nothing happens.

I'm pretty new to w2k so any help is greatly appreciated.
