    I have a Brothers Laser printer Model HL2270DW. It is Hard wired with Cat5 wire(as well as my whole House) It worked Fine . Now it will not print infact the computer can’t fine it anymore. I have uninstalled the software /driver and reinstalled, still can’t find printe. I have replace the cable from the wall to the printer and from the switch to the Expention board.
    I have a Router plus a switch. It is install peer to peer. And no computer on my home network can locate the printer. I have uninstalled the software on a laptop and reinstalled it using connect via USB. And it will print under this type of install.
    Now a storm came thru the other day and the power keep going off and on my wife unplugged everything but forgot the printer. But printer will work on USB .
    My main computer is connected on the network on the same switch, its still connects to internet I moved the pinter to a different plug didn’t affect it
    Could the Ethernet part on the printer have burn out when the power went off and on. I have use a software IP address Finder and ran it,it does not locate my printer either. Anyone have any ideas of what to do next

    Either the printer's software server or network card has failed.
    Turn off the printer completely, then start it back up.

    Reset the printer to its factory defaults:
    Code:
    Reset the print server to the default factory settings.
    Description:

    If you wish to reset the print server back to its default factory settings (resetting all information such as the password and IP address information), please follow these steps below:

    Using the control panel of the printer:

        Turn off the machine.
        Make sure that the front cover is closed and the power cord is plugged in.
        Hold down the Go button as you turn on the power switch. Keep the Go button pressed down until all the LEDs light up, and then the Ready LED turns off.
        Release the Go button. Make sure that all the LEDs turn off.
        Press the Go button six times. Make sure that all the LEDs light up to indicate the print server has been reset to its factory default settings. The machine will restart.

    Using the BRAdmin Light utility:

        Start the BRAdmin Light utility.
        [For Windows® 2000/XP/7, Windows Vista® and Windows Server® 2003/2008 users]
        Click Start=>All Programs*=>Brother=>BRAdmin Light=>BRAdmin Light.
        * Programs for Windows® 2000 users
        [For Mac OS X 10.3.9 or greater users]
        Double-click Macintosh HD (Startup Disk)/ Library/ Printers / Brother / Utilities / BRAdmin Light.jar file.
        Choose the print server you want to reset.
        Choose Network Configuration (Configure network settings) from the Control menu.
        Enter the password. The default password is "access ". Click OK.
        Click the Control tab and click the "Factory Reset" button.
        The print server has been reset to the default factory settings.
    Use the brother network utility to detect and configure the printer, or a Web browser if the print server is working and the printer has an IP address.

    Looks like the ethernet port card is burned out on the printer.
    I got it hooked up wireless now
