Called by daughter about system fail on boot. Told me on startup she gets Alert, System Battery Voltage is low---press F1 to continue F2 to run setup utility. Advised her that the small system battery may be failing. Its white letters on a black screen, not the BSOD. Tried to get her to join the bbs to no avail. Said she was afraid you would think her silly with questions. Told her you were proffesionals.Could it be the power supply? :D

Have her try to get to Safe Mode with Networking. Could be F8 or DEL key or something on boot up. Don't know which one to tell you as don't know what kind of PC it is.

Alert, System Battery Voltage is low is an alert on Dell computers. It means the onboard battery is bad and should be replaced.

Thank you, TonyT and others. It is a Dell machine. Should have included that initally, however my thought coincided w/TonyT and advised her as such. Told her to follow manual for replacement of onboard battery.

If it is a desktop, they are real easy to change. You can pick up the battery at Wally-World, Radio Shack, and most office supply places. It is a CR2032. Tell her not to get the double pack as the batteries normally last for years. The are only about 4 bucks at the most. Just make sure she watches the way she takes it out and put the new one back in the same way. One side is slightly smaller than the other.

MrBill--Thank you very much for your input. Have sent page to her. Maybe she will join the bbs once she finds out how great you people are.
