I am using Windows Live Mail with XP. Although I did not change any settings, yesterday afternoon the layout of Windows Live Mail changed.
Earlier in the day it was normal, i.e. incoming messages showing in the top pane and when clicking on a message it opened in the bottom pane. Now each incoming message is displayed in full, and when I click on a specific folder, the list of messages in that folder are not displayed, but only the latetst one in full. The only way I can overcome this is to click on VIEW and on NEXT OR PREVIOUS MESSAGE. Any ideas?

When you click on OPTIONS do you see the option to "enable" reading pane?

No, Clicking on Options, I couldn't find the words "enable Reading Pane, but then under customize toolbar, I found the words "Reading Pane" and "Folder Pane" I click on both and it has restored what I am used to seeing, but in a very different way. At least I can read my emails now!! Thanks!
