I just bought a new Samsung Series E laptop. It has Windows 7 Home Premium, an Intel Core i3 2.3 processor, 6gb ram and a 500gb hard drive. Specification-wise it has about twice the capability of my old laptop. My broadband speed is 30mbps according to several online speed tests, and the connection indicator on the laptop says that I have an excellent connection.

It works perfectly except for one annoying problem: its page loading performance is slow (with both IE9 and Chrome) and Youtube videos, for example, stutter as if the broadband speed was very poor. My five-year old low-tech laptop plays the videos better!

I've uninstalled all the unwanted bloatware which came with the machine and have it just as I'd like it to be.

Would anyone know why I'm getting such a poor internet performance from what should be a sweetly running machine despite having an excellent broadband service?

    Any thoughts would be welcome.

BTW I downloaded and installed all Windows updates.

Hi Lugwalker. Have you installed the latest version of Adobe Flash Player and updated the video card drivers?

What do you use for your security software? Is the CPU usage pretty low when you are browsing on the Internet or are you experiencing lag when watching videos?

Have you gone into IE9's settings and disabled any 3rd party add-ons that you don't use to speed up IE9?

Hi , I suspect that evan omo's flash player upgrade is the solution however I might add upgrading java runtime, as many websites use this
    search : java download
If streaming is still a problem your advanced browser may not be accepting required cookies . If safe , I suggest lowering the security settings : internet options > privacy
Restart the browser and evaluate from a familiar streaming issue-prone video site
If it runs ok , then increase security - the required cookie should be already saved , at least for that site.
At end of session run antispyware scan to ensure no malware sneaked in
Is not a satisfactory solution as streaming should be smooth at default browser settings unless there is malware - in which case you can expect viewing issues as security blocks the parasite
If applicable upgrade firmware of network modem device if not using onboard and particularly if using the same device as installed on the previous XP era ? laptop

I use Chrome by default but occasionally use IE9. The lag occurs in both browsers. I have no extensions added to Chrome.

Youtube videos will pause/lag when playing.

All desktop non-web applications/programs (Ccleaner, Avast, utilities) open instantly and perform quickly.

    I use Avast anti-virus

CPU usage is low when browsing. Security setting is medium.

I've upgraded the latest Java and also Flash player.

My wife's slightly older, poorer spec, laptop is a Win 7 machine also and runs perfectly. Both laptops use the signal from the desktop modem. No problem with her laptop in loading pages.

I've done a antivirus scan and all was well in that category.

The search for a solution continues. Thank you for your assistance! :)

Try this tweak for IE9 and see if there is any improvement in loading pages.

    1. Open IE9 and click Tools< Internet Options.
    2. Click on the Connections Tab.
    3. Under LAN settings click the LAN Settings button.
    4. The LAN settings window will open.
    5. Make sure every option is unchecked. When done click Ok.
    6. Click Ok again to close the Internet Options window.
    7. Restart IE9.
    8. When IE9 opens go to this website, Internet Explorer Tweaks.
    9. Then scroll down and under speed tweaks click the link that says Increase the connection limit.
    10. Click Run when prompted.
    11. Windows 7 will ask you if you want to merge this reg file into the Registry.
    12. Click Yes then click Ok.
    13. Restart IE9.

See if there is any difference.

I've printed out those instructions, Evan, and will give them a try tomorrow evening when I return.

    Many thanks for this. :)

Well, Evan, I've done as you suggested and, alas, there's no difference at all. It's still annoyingly slow with buffering when loading web pages. Thanks anyway.

I'm bringing it to a computer specialist tomorrow or back to the computer shop where I bought it a few days ago. How it's functioning is just not acceptable. I have a broadband speed of 30+mbps (excellent signal), an Intel Core iE 2.35 processor and 6MB Ram, and it's slower than the older laptop which has an inferior specification.

I'll let you know what the outcome is.

    Thanks everyone. :)

Thats a shame. :( If that lapbtop is performing worse than your older one then I would do as you stated above and return it. There is obviously something wrong hardware wise with the machine so hopefully you can either get a refund or get a local computer tech to look at it.

I've worked on a hundreds of computers over the years and have never experienced what you've described so keep us posted on what the outcome of this situation is.

I eventually got in touch with Samsung Support. As soon as I mentioned the problem they instantly gave me the solution: an InterPROset/Wireless WiFi software update. I installed it and then checked out the laptop. The good news is that this solved the problem. Happy days!

Thanks again everybody for your input into this situation.
