I really dont know Steve, will try to locate manual, or tear the thing apart to find out. All I know right now is it wont recognise the mbr or C:\ drive. It will accept DOS comands but will only go so far with the disc for winXP, tells me its loading XP up to a point and then tells me it cant find the drive 0.????

If you can't see the hard drive in the BIOS setup screens, it is quite possible that the hard drive has failed. Especially given the fact it's close to five years old.
